The scores: Capterra 4.5, Trustpilot 3.3, G2 unverified
The two sites we could read disagree. Capterra rates PhantomBuster 4.5 on 64 reviews; Trustpilot gives 3.3 on 113, with 52% five-star and 34% one-star reviews: few reviews in the middle. G2 blocks automated access; its score of 4.4 on about 138 reviews comes from search results, not from G2 itself.

Hours saved on LinkedIn research: the case users make for PhantomBuster
The positive reviews describe time saved on LinkedIn research, with Phantoms that keep running while the computer is off. Capterra's sub-scores follow: 4.3 for ease of use, 4.4 for features, 4.3 for value for money, 4.1 for customer service.
Templates instead of code
Users like starting from ready-made Phantoms and Workflows rather than scripts: PhantomBuster counts 100+ of them, with documentation and tutorials users praise.
Scraping that runs on its own
Searches, profiles, post likers and Google Maps results are exported on a schedule, in the cloud, and land in a Google Sheet, a CSV or a CRM. PhantomBuster's pricing page quotes two G2 reviews.
CRM and data tools
Users praise the CRM integrations, HubSpot among them, plus Zapier, Make and n8n and Clay, which let teams plug PhantomBuster's results into the rest of their stack.
LinkedIn warnings, wrong URLs, slow support: the one-star pattern
34% of Trustpilot reviews give one star. They repeat a handful of complaints, which match what PhantomBuster's own documentation lets you expect.
- Account warnings: LinkedIn or Instagram restrictions reported even below the limits PhantomBuster recommends. Those limits are "recommended, not enforced", and its help centre and blog do not give the same figures (see our PhantomBuster guide).
- Data quality: reviews from 2026 describe LinkedIn and Instagram URL Finder results that point to the wrong person or page.
- Support: slow answers, or a chatbot that does not solve the problem.
- Reliability: Phantoms described as "buggy", and error messages that do not say what went wrong.
- Account and resources: reviews from 2025 report resources or access lost without notice.
- Cost: heavy users run out of hours (20 a month on Start) and have to move up a plan, since hours cannot be bought separately.
Who PhantomBuster pays off for, and who ends up paying twice
The verdict depends on the job. If you weigh PhantomBuster against something else, the alternatives, sorted by job start where this list ends.
- Scraping beyond LinkedIn: a good fit. Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, GitHub, YouTube: none of the tools we compare covers that many sources from one workspace.
- Scraping LinkedIn and Sales Navigator only: you pay for hours and email attempts you may not need. Emelia includes unlimited scraping of LinkedIn and Sales Navigator searches from €37 a month (PhantomBuster Start: €69) and charges only the emails it finds: about 300 emails a month cost €56 there, €69 at PhantomBuster.
- Cold email after scraping: you pay twice. PhantomBuster finds emails but does not send them, so a sending tool comes on top.
- Heavy daily use: watch the hours. When they run out, automations stop until the next billing date.
- Teams: one workspace shared by up to 100 members, and up to 4 LinkedIn accounts on one extraction; priority support comes with Grow and Scale.
Is PhantomBuster legal? GDPR role, terms and responsible use
PhantomBuster presents itself as a "data processor" under the GDPR: it processes data on your behalf, and you, the customer, decide what is collected and why. A data processing agreement and a Responsible Use Policy are attached to its terms of service, which are governed by French law (courts of Paris). It says it only works with publicly visible data reached through your own accounts, and that it uses no fake accounts.
What that means for you depends on what you collect, from where, and what you do with it: the compliance of a campaign is yours, not the tool's. This page is not legal advice.
Is PhantomBuster legit, safe and well supported?
Yes, it is an established company: The Phantom Company, a SAS based in Paris, founded in 2016. It claims "100,000+ professionals" and "270K+ automations launched daily".
Reviews are split: some praise it, many one-star reviews describe slow answers or a chatbot. Priority support is included in Grow and Scale; PhantomBuster's own pages disagree on whether Start gets it.
It can happen: reviews report warnings, even below the limits. PhantomBuster recommends weekly limits per type of account, to halve when looking for emails, but does not enforce them. Details in our PhantomBuster guide.
For scraping several platforms, users say yes. For LinkedIn and cold email together, it takes two subscriptions; Emelia does both from €37 a month.
Emelia is a PhantomBuster competitor. We have tried to stay fair: every figure about PhantomBuster comes from its own website or public review sites.
